Belive it or not Trick-or-Treating actually started in the middle ages. Back then people belived in a place called Pergatory. This is a place between Heaven and Hell. This wasn't as bad as Hell, but they belived it was still pretty firey. They belived that if a soul recived enough prayers they would be sent to Heaven. So people (mostly males) from the ages from about 12 to their late 20's performed in a thing called souling. This was when they would go house to house offering prayers for the souls in exchange for "soul cakes", this were small cookie like treats. As you will see later, Trick-or-Treating will later save our modern Halloween.
